“Close to Nature”
Exhibition of photographic “reproductions of natural subjects”
Starting out in the world of Engineering Derek migrated pretty quickly into the world of Photography. He says the engineering training was vital to his photography career.
During his more than 35 years in business he has evolved from the darkroom processes of developing and printing photographic film to working completely within the digital realm. Derek loves to help all levels of experience with photographic and printing of photographs to get the best result that is possible.
His photography has always been driven by the belief that “Mother Nature” knows best which means that his photographs are reproductions of natural subjects as seen. The use of flash, backdrops, sprayers or picked flowers is not part of Derek’s photography practice. He works on the theory that any light is good light and any time of the year offers great photo potential regardless of the weather. Derek has spent many years photographing gardens for publications.
This collection of photographic art prints is a mix of ‘as captured’ images and manipulated work. Derek’s vision is to use imaging technology to bring into focus the wonder of natural surroundings and to foster the love of our beautiful country. He hopes this will encourage people to help preserve what we have.
