About this objectPatu aruhe (fern root beater) were used in conjunction with a stone anvil. A patu that shows prominent adze marks in the making of this patu. The knob at the end of the handle has been shaped by the adze and is slightly curved.Handle has a crack right around near top of knob. The base has also been shaped to a point at the base of the patu showing the adze marks. There are large cracks on the pounding part. May not of been used.
