About this objectMetal Mooring Ring threaded through Large Bolt with eye at one end and square at the other . Attached to a Barge for Mooring purposes, found on a sunken Barge on the Mokau River. The Barge was originally a Lighter from the Waitara Freezing works, then Christoffel Sawmill converted it to a Logging Barge with a Steam Hauler installed on the back and was used to Haul logs up the river to the Sawmill. In 1928 the Barge was holed and all gear removed. It was then towed down river for repairs when it sank and became known as "The sunken barge" and could be seen at low tide about 15 Km from the sea.
