Name/TitlePostcard, Embroidered
About this objectEmbroidered postcard depicting a ribbon with the words "FROM A FRIEND" across the ribbon. The flag of the UK is on one end of the ribbon and the flag of France is on the other. Sprigs of leaves and flowers are on either side of the ribbon. The embroidery is very faded at the front but the reverse still shows the original colours. This embroidery is attached to the front of an unused postcard.
Embroidered postcards were popular in World War 1 which were sent home from servicemen stationed in France. These were mostly made by Belgian refugees.
An additional image shows how the postcard would have looked originally.
