Thank you so much for sharing this information and the old photos. Today while scanning NZ family holiday b/w photos, I came across one featuring the tunnel, with myself, parents and little brother standing in front. Took some searching but your web site has solved the ‘where’ problem.
It was taken some 65 or more years ago, and you have explained the difference in shape now.
Many thanks.

Kia ora,
what a beautiful karakia! I have just started my raranga journey and am hoping that it is okay for me to copy and use this karakia when weaving?
ngā mihi,
Makere
Kia ora Amanda
I am doing a research project for my Level 2 Te Reo Maori, and need a karakia from Taranaki, do you know who wrote this beautiful karakia and where it is from?
I have also done my Diploma Raranga so a rananga karakia is relevent to me, we learnt karakia mo Te Harakere and am not sure where that comes from either.
Nga mihi

Good luck with your journey. This is a well known karakia to use when weaving so please do use it.
