About this objectPHOTO: Black and white photo image of Kawhia appears on the first page of a green leather photo album. The photo is a high-angle shot of the roadside beside the shore. Buildings line the side of the road opposite the water, a few houses are clustered together by the shore and on a hill.
PHOTO ALBUM DESCRIPTION: album is covered in soft light green/brown leather, contains 57 black and white photos of travels throughout New Zealand (including Mokau, Awakino, Mount Messenger and Taranaki) in approximately the mid-1920s. Pages of album are dark grey, the ink used to caption the photos is white. The leather cover has koru patterns with dark-coloured ink (black or grey)hand tooled , the patterns stretch diagonally across the top-left and bottom-right corners of the album cover. Also in black ink is the handwritten title "Photographs" with a small caption below that reads: "Greeting from / Hawea NZ". The album is fastened together with green/brown string at the left-hand side. Inside back cover of album contains a red and gold Westcraft N.Z. stamp or sticker, stuck on the bottom right-hand corner. Album dimensions: 160 x 235 x 25 mm.
