We’re delighted to have Jo from Piopio return to us and exhibit. Her work is quirky and puts a smile on anyone’s face!!
Living in the small King Country settlement of Piopio provides Jo with rich, visual and personal influences.
She works primarily as a contemporary realist but more recently has begun to add another layer of interest into her compositions – that of humour! Using native birds and animals, as both object and subject, enables her to voice her interest in the idiosyncratic and distinctive world we live in. The characters she feels best able to represent, the fun there is to be had with language, symbolism and entrenched beliefs, are all present in her latest body of work.
Jo’s choice of medium is acrylic on boxed plywood board or canvas. She exhibits in galleries throughout NZ and her work is held in private collections both here and internationally.
